Welcome to Canonsburg, PA. Canonsburg is a picturesque small town with tree lined streets, historic buildings and a downtown area with shops and restaurants. Housing ranges from older Victorians to new construction and everything in between. Canonsburg, North Strabane Township and Cecil Township make up the Canon-McMillan School District.
The borough of Canonsburg was incorporated in 1802. The 2010 census documented 8,992 residents. Originally settled by immigrants from Greece, Italy, Russia and Poland, pockets of ethnic & cultural similarity remain to this day. Canonsburg history includes markets, mining, factories, the Fort Pitt Bridge Works, Jefferson College, Perry Como and Bobby Vinton – two beloved native sons. A strong sense of family, community and civic pride is evident. Families have lived here for generations – parents raise children, the children get married and continue to live in the neighborhoods raising the grandchildren and so on.
Activities
Canonsburg is home to Town Park, an 18 acre park with swimming pool, pavilions and picnic areas. Town Park offers Camp Splash, a seven week full day summer day camp at Town Park pool. In addition, all summer long there are concerts held in the park.
Canonsburg is well known for an annual Octoberfest – held in September of each year & the Fourth of July Parade. The committees who work on these events take pride in making them bigger and better each year. The Fourth of July parade is nationally known and one of the largest Independence Day events in the country.
Shopping
There are many unique and interesting shops right along Pike Street in the heart of downtown Canonsburg. Canonsburg also has more antique shops per square mile than most large cities. If you love antiquing – Canonsburg is definitely a great place to go. And let’s not forget Sarris Candies – where you can get delicious chocolate or ice cream treats.
Of course, Canonsburg is also within easy driving distance to shopping in Washington, Robinson and the South Hills, including Tanger Outlet.
