Come Home to Upper St. Clair Township
Welcome to Upper St. Clair, an upscale southern suburb of Pittsburgh and home of the nationally renowned Upper St. Clair school district.
St. Clair was one of the original townships of Allegheny County when the county was created in 1788. In 1836, St. Clair Township was divided into two separate townships, Upper and Lower St. Clair. Upper St. Clair continued to be subdivided throughout the 19th and 20th centuries as several parts of the original township separated to form new townships.
Upper St. Clair was one of the top 10 Best Places to Live in 2009, according to US News & World Report. The 2010 census reported 19,229 residents. Housing includes condos, townhouses, single family homes with prices typically higher than other southern suburbs of Pittsburgh.
Recreation
A state of the art 90,000 square foot fitness, aquatics, recreation and community center, surrounded by 475 acres of nature and outdoor recreation opened in 2009. The amenities are too numerous to list here but please visit the recreation center web site for all of the details. Needless to say, just about everything you could want in the way of recreation is available. Upper St. Clair also supports 16 parks and fields totaling approximately 733 acres for use by township residents. The USC Department of Recreation and Leisure Services offer a variety of programs, classes, and camps.
Shopping
There is no lack of shopping centers, malls and strip malls in close proximity. South Hills Village Mall, one of Pittsburgh’s largest indoor malls, Village Square and the Galleria are all within a few miles drive. A Giant Eagle Market District store is close by - a grocery store inspired by the open-air markets of Europe. USC residents can also easily travel to all of the shopping in Washington County, including Tanger Outlets, and to the shopping areas in Robinson near the airport.
